The forum's business programme was particularly intensive that day: 25 events were held on 2 April, including 18 at the federal level and 7 at the regional level. The sessions covered the key areas of power industry development — from technological sovereignty and power equipment manufacturing to digitalisation, international cooperation and training of specialists for the industry.
The opening ceremony was attended by Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev, Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Annageldi Saparov, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, Minister of Oil and Minerals of the Republic of Yemen Mohammed Abdullah Ali Bamka, as well as heads of the largest energy companies and industry organisations. After the official opening ceremony, Sergei Tsivilev and Rustam Minnikhanov toured the specialised ENERGOPROM exhibition. The display presented a wide range of modern solutions for the electric power industry — from generating equipment to digital technologies for power system control. They reviewed the key developments shown by Russian and foreign companies, spoke with exhibitors and discussed the prospects for introducing innovations aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the power sector. The central event of the business programme was the plenary session "GOELRO ver. 2.0: Reviving the Legend", which addressed the creation of a new energy system focused on technological independence, resilience and long-term development. The key benchmarks for the industry's development were set out by Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev. He stressed the need to achieve technological sovereignty, to develop domestic power equipment manufacturing, to create long-term demand for Russian equipment and to expand international cooperation on the basis of equal partnership. The forum hosted a meeting of the Energy Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation, chaired by Aisen Nikolaev. Its main topic was the implementation of state policy to secure the industry's technological independence and to develop domestic power equipment manufacturing. An event of international scale was the 68th meeting of the Electric Power Council of the CIS, held on the sidelines of the forum. The meeting was opened by Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergei Tsivilev, who stressed the importance of regular dialogue between the Commonwealth countries on key issues in the development of the fuel and energy sector. Participants discussed the prospects for deeper cooperation, the shaping of a fair and sustainable energy model, and matters of equal access to infrastructure and technology. Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted the significance of holding the meeting as part of the forum and underlined the region's readiness to develop joint projects in the energy sector.
A separate track of the business programme was Supplier Day, which became an important venue for direct dialogue between customers and equipment manufacturers. Participants discussed product requirements, mechanisms for building long-term demand, the localisation of production and wider involvement of Russian companies in major energy projects.
A practical outcome of the forum was the signing of a number of agreements aimed at developing technological and industrial cooperation: — Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev and Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev signed a memorandum of cooperation in the electric power industry; — CEO of Grid Company Ilshat Fardiev and CEO of the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan Ilgiz Sydygaliev signed a cooperation agreement; — CEO of the Scientific and Technical Centre of the Unified Power System Ruslan Izmaylov and Deputy CEO of Shabakahoi Intiqoli Bark (Tajikistan) Bakhodur Usmonov concluded an agreement on cooperation in developing controlled AC and DC power transmission technologies; — A cooperation agreement was signed by the Rector of Kazan State Power Engineering University Edvard Abdullazyanov and the Director of Inter RAO Corporate University Olga Morozova; — A memorandum on concluding partnership agreements was signed by the Director General of the St Petersburg Power Engineering Institute for Advanced Training Sergey Yungblyudt, Rector of Kazan State Power Engineering University Edvard Abdullazyanov and CEO of Innostage Aidar Guzairov.
The results of the day showed that ENERGOPROM serves not only as a venue for discussion but also as an effective tool for launching specific projects and partnerships. The forum lays the foundation for a modern, technologically advanced and sustainable power industry geared towards long-term cooperation and stronger technological sovereignty.
From 1 to 3 April 2026, Kazan Expo hosted the Kazan International Electric Power Forum ENERGOPROM, organised jointly with the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
