RusHydro supplied the Kazan International Electric Power Forum with green energy

RusHydro arranged the issue and transfer of the generation attributes created by electricity output at Nizhegorodskaya HPP to cover the electricity consumption of the Kazan International Electric Power Forum ENERGOPROM. The transaction was recorded in the unified national register of the electricity origin certification system. The certificate confirming the consumption of clean energy was presented to the forum organisers by Sergey Machekhin, Deputy CEO for Project Engineering, Sustainable Development and International Cooperation, during the plenary session. The certificate of ownership of generation attributes confirms that, throughout the forum, all ENERGOPROM venues consumed electricity generated by a RusHydro hydropower plant, a renewable energy facility. The forum thus made a tangible contribution to reducing the carbon footprint, to supporting renewable and low-carbon generation, to environmental protection, to countering climate change and to improving the quality of life in the region. RusHydro is the national leader in low-carbon electricity generation from renewable sources. The company holds the largest green generation portfolio in Russia. Fourteen RusHydro hydropower plants currently hold the status of a qualified generating facility, which entitles them to transfer environmental attributes. Together they produce more than 60 billion kWh of clean electricity a year. RusHydro not only produces clean energy but also consumes it. The energy holding is switching its own offices to clean power consumption: green certificates have already been obtained by RusHydro's headquarters in Krasnoyarsk, Ryazan Energy Company, Far Eastern Energy Company and Krasnoyarskenergosbyt. This is a further contribution to preventing greenhouse gas emissions into the air of the cities where the company's units operate. To consumers, including export-oriented ones, the energy holding offers two principal instruments for switching to green power consumption: the purchase of certificates attesting to generation attributes and confirming that the energy originates from low-carbon and renewable sources, and the conclusion of free bilateral contracts for the purchase and sale of environmentally clean electricity labelled as green.
