Vladimir Putin congratulates workers and veterans of Russia's power industry on their professional holiday

"Dear friends,

I congratulate you on your professional holiday and on the 105th anniversary of the approval of the State Plan for the Electrification of Russia.

The adoption of the GOELRO Plan was a significant, truly historic event for our country. Largely thanks to the dedicated work of scientists, engineers, construction workers and specialists, a modern and efficient power system was built in a short time, and it became a reliable basis for the development of the regions and of the strategic sectors of the national economy, for strengthening the defence industry and for addressing large-scale social objectives.

It is gratifying that the current generation of industry professionals carefully preserves and develops the constructive traditions of its predecessors and works honestly and conscientiously. Today your key priorities include the modernisation of grid infrastructure, the expansion of generating capacity and the wide adoption of digital and resource-saving technologies across every part of the sector. The Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period until 2050, approved recently, is aimed at this.

I am confident that you will continue to carry out your professional duties with distinction and to make a significant contribution to strengthening Russia's technological sovereignty.

I wish you success and new achievements for the benefit of the Fatherland and of our people."
