Results of the ENERGOPROM Forum Youth Day

The Youth Day business programme comprised 22 events held in the format of a live dialogue between young people and energy companies, including 17 federal and 5 regional sessions.

As part of the Kazan International Electric Power Forum ENERGOPROM, the official opening of the Youth Day took place, bringing together students, young professionals and representatives of the energy industry. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Ministers of Energy of the Russian Federation Eduard Sheremetsev and Roman Marshavin, as well as by Rector of Kazan State Power Engineering University Edvard Abdullazyanov. Opening the event, Eduard Sheremetsev highlighted the key role of young people in the development of the energy industry and noted the importance of such platforms for building a professional community. According to him, it is at events of this kind that new ideas, initiatives and teams capable of shaping the future of the industry are born. He also drew attention to the strategic role of the energy sector as a core industry of the economy and stressed the importance of continuous professional development. "Today the energy sector is one of the key areas that determine the sustainable development of the economy, technological sovereignty and the quality of life of every person. Make the most of this day: do not hesitate to ask questions, put forward ideas and be active," — Eduard Sheremetsev noted.

In his address, Roman Marshavin focused on the development of international cooperation and the importance of engagement with foreign students. He noted that the exchange of knowledge and experience between Russian and international participants creates conditions for mutual enrichment and for building new professional ties.

Rector of Kazan State Power Engineering University Edvard Abdullazyanov, in turn, welcomed the forum participants and stressed the importance of the Youth Day as a platform for the development of students and young professionals. He noted how intensive the programme was and urged participants to make the most of the forum's opportunities for gaining knowledge, networking and professional growth.

The central event of the day was the meeting of the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation with young people at the session "From Shukhov to the Present Day: the Greatness of the Russian Engineering School". The event was attended by Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergei Tsivilev, Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of System Operator of the United Power System Fedor Opadchy, Managing Director of SIBUR Ruslan Gizzatullin, and co-founder of the Cyberus fund Yury Maximov. The meeting brought together senior school students, college and university students, as well as young professionals, including participants of an international internship from African countries. The session was organised with the support of the Russian Society Znanie together with the Russian Ministry of Energy. In his address, Sergei Tsivilev spoke about the development of the Russian engineering school, its historical legacy and its significance for the future of the country. He paid particular attention to continuity in education, the role of mentoring and of fundamental training based on knowledge of physics and mathematics. The Minister also gave examples from history, including the contribution of power engineers during the Great Patriotic War, and noted the importance of developing engineering thinking from an early age.

"The task of the Russian engineering school is to train people who are able to devise and find solutions and to take decisions, who are not afraid to set themselves ambitious goals and to achieve them, even if those goals seem impossible to others," — Sergei Tsivilev stressed.

In his address, Rustam Minnikhanov focused on the strong demand for engineering professions and their key role in the development of industry and the economy. He noted that Tatarstan is one of the country's leading industrial regions, where the need for qualified engineering personnel is felt particularly keenly, and spoke about regional educational initiatives aimed at promoting the exact sciences and engineering specialities. "Engineering professions are the future of our country and our competitive advantage," — Rustam Minnikhanov noted.

During the session, participants also learned about examples of the development of Russian engineering thought — from the works of Vladimir Shukhov to modern technological solutions. The format of the meeting allowed young people to put questions to the experts, discuss career prospects and receive practical advice from industry leaders. The meeting closed with a quiz, whose winners were presented with commemorative gifts by Sergei Tsivilev and Rustam Minnikhanov.

The ENERGOPROM Youth Day features an intensive business and educational programme: discussions, expert sessions, meetings with industry representatives and project presentations. Participants have the opportunity to talk directly with experts, present their own initiatives and find mentors for their further development in the energy sector. Holding the Youth Day as part of the forum highlights the industry's attention to workforce training and to building the talent pool for the future of Russian power engineering.
